This modern quilt pattern caught my eye in the October edition of Quilty. After weeks of obsessing about it, I finally purchased fabric and decided to create this beauty that Jennifer Dick designed. My friend, Sarah, helped piece it when time was running low for me. When it was time to quilt, I just had to put Kaffe Fassett fabric on the back! I spent many hours quilting this charming thing: gaining an appreciation for straight line repetition and swirls in the appliqués. This is definitely my favorite quilt in my life so far…..and I think I just have to give it to my spirited daughter, Sally, for her 21st birthday. The bright orange square reminds me of Sally and her desire to travel the road less traveled! I call this quilt “Teal Zeal” and it will be displayed this summer in Oregon for the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show.
