Memory Quilts

“There is a time for everything, and a season
for every activity under the heavens….a time to be born
and a time to die,….a time to keep and a time to throw away…”
Eccelsiastes 3: 1, 2, 6

Because there is a time for everything under the sun,
I have created many Memory Quilts in the last 5 years.
Every time, the quilts have been for families that want a tangible remembrance of their loved one. Sometimes, when an elderly person passes away, it is the act of preserving a legacy. Other times, a father dies unexpectedly, and it is a true gift to use his favorite shirts for special quilts for each child and his wife.

When life brings you a time of mourning, I hope you will consider the gift of a Memory Quilt for that special person in your life that needs a fabric hug.

When a local family lost their dad to a biking tragedy, it was a privileged to be asked to create several memory quilts for his children. There is no way to replace a special dad – but – what about something that will remind you of him every day? Something that will bring you comfort and warmth – just like your dad?  Take a look at these quilts that combined shirts from their dad along with individual shirts from each child.

Memory quilts are an amazing gift to someone you love.

A local beach community in Georgia lost a very special person this past year.  When his wife called me to create six quilts for her and their children, I was overwhelmed with her desire to capture his life in quilts. As an owner of beach restaurants, his shirts were fun and colorful, just like he was.  I know his family is wrapped up this winter in his favorite clothes that were lovingly quilted together for this special family.

Here is an example of the special bond between father and child.  These quilts represent the favorite shirts and colors of a special dad who left behind two beautiful children and a wife.  These quilts turned out beautifully thanks to the memories that these shirts represent to this special family.  He was an avid hunter which we worked to incorporate into these memory quilts.
